Welcome to Boston Collegiate Charter School!
Our mission is to prepare each student for college.
Boston Collegiate Charter School, founded as South
Boston Harbor Academy Charter School, opened in 1998 to 120 students in grades
5, 6, and 7 and has grown to an enrollment of over 450 students in grades 5
through 12. Our goal is to instill in our students the expectation of college
from the moment they walk through our doors. For five years in a row, 100% of
the senior class has been accepted into college, earning over $4 million in
merit scholarships! Boston Collegiate is the only public school in the state
where 100% of tenth grade students have passed the mathematics MCAS for five
consecutive years. Boston Collegiate students have outperformed their peers in
Boston and Massachusetts year after year. In 2007, BCCS 6th, 7th, 8th, and 10th
graders posted higher passing and proficiency rates than Boston and
Massachusetts averages on every exam administered.
“In
Boston
, for example, the
New Orleans
model of a broad portfolio of school operators could be reproduced by lifting
the current cap on new charters and inviting the most successful or promising
charter schools into BPS facilities at nominal rents. The city [of Boston] and
the state could also encourage the highest performing charter schools to expand
their work, in the same way that KIPP is creating a string of schools in New
Orleans.
Boston
is home to some of the finest charter
schools in
America
, including Roxbury Prep, Boston
Collegiate Charter School, Academy of the
Pacific Rim
and MATCH.
